First celebrated about 4000 years ago in ancient Babylon this holiday heralded in the beginning of the new year. Fun fact the new year was actually held in late March when the day and night were of near equal length. It was later moved to January first by Julius Caesar when he introduced the Julian calendar which aligned more in sync with the sun and kept when the Gregorian calendar, which we use today was introduced.
New Year’s is when we reflect on the past, but look forward to our futures and the year ahead with grand celebration. Many countries around the world celebrate this ancient holiday.
